Collection: Glue Sticks

Thermoplastic adhesives supplied in solid cylindrical “sticks” that melt when heated in a hot-glue gun. Once applied, they solidify on cooling to form an instant, high-strength bond.

Common Sub-Types & Examples:

  • Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA): The most widespread general-purpose formulation, offering good tack and bond strength (e.g. Bostik® Easy Melt).

  • Polyolefin: Provides higher heat resistance and shear strength for more demanding applications.

  • Polyamide (Nylon-Based): Delivers superior bond strength and flexibility; resistant to moisture and chemicals (e.g. Surebonder® Industrial Grade).

  • Styrenic Block Copolymer (SBC): Offers enhanced flexibility and adhesion to difficult substrates like fabrics and foams.

Key Characteristics to Consider:

  • Melting Point & Operating Temperature: Ranges typically from 110 °C to 200 °C; match to your glue gun and application heat requirements.

  • Open Time: The period during which the adhesive remains fluid enough for repositioning (usually 10–60 seconds).

  • Set & Cure Time: How quickly the bond reaches handling strength—often 1–5 minutes.

  • Bond Strength & Durability: Tensile and shear strength, as well as resistance to impact and vibration.

  • Viscosity & Flow: Determines how well the molten glue spreads and fills gaps.

  • Substrate Compatibility: Ensure the formulation adheres to materials such as wood, plastics, metals, fabrics or ceramics.

  • Flexibility vs. Rigidity: Select flexible grades for dynamic joints or rigid grades for structural bonds.
