Collection: Hand Riveters

A hand riveter is a manual fastening tool designed to set blind rivets (pop rivets) or solid rivets by pulling a mandrel through the rivet body, deforming it to form a secure joint without access to the rear side of the workpiece.

Common Types & Examples:

  • Tong-Style (Pliers) Riveters: Compact, lightweight tools for occasional use; generally handle 2.4 mm–4.8 mm rivets.

  • Lever-Action Riveters: Longer handles provide greater mechanical advantage for larger rivets (up to 6.4 mm).

  • Swivel-Head Riveters: Pivoting head for access in tight or angled spaces.

  • Multi-Jaw Riveters: Interchangeable jaws to suit various mandrel shapes and materials.

Key Characteristics to Consider:

  • Rivet Diameter Range: Typical capacity spans 2.4 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm and 4.8 mm; some heavy-duty models handle up to 6.4 mm.

  • Pulling Force: Measured in kilonewtons (kN); higher force for steel or stainless-steel rivets.

  • Handle Reach & Ratio: Lever length and linkage design determine ease of operation and grip fatigue.

  • Material & Weight: Aluminium-body riveters are lighter; steel-frame models offer greater durability.

  • Mandrel Collection: Built-in mandrel catcher keeps workspace tidy and safe.

Typical Applications:

  • Sheet-metal assembly (automotive panels, ductwork)

  • Cladding and roofing installations (aluminium gutters, fascias)

  • Signage and display fitting

  • Marine and aerospace repairs

  • General fabrication where only one side of the joint is accessible.
