Collection: Pipe Clamps

Pipe Clamps (used in woodworking projects) are simple, versatile clamps that consist of two cast-iron (or forged steel) heads mounted on a length of standard threaded pipe. By swapping in pipes of different lengths, you can rapidly create clamps to suit anything from small frames to large panel glue-ups.

Key Characteristics:

  • Modular Length: Uses readily available threaded pipe (commonly Β½β€³ or ΒΎβ€³ BSP), so clamp capacity is simply the length of pipe you choose (e.g. 300 mm up to 3 m).

  • Fixed Head & Sliding Tail: One head is permanently fixed to the pipe end; the tail slides freely and is locked in place by a screw-activated carriage.

  • High Clamping Force: A screw handle or lever on the fixed head converts user torque into strong, even pressure across the workpiece.

  • Affordable & Durable: Pipe and clamp heads are inexpensive to replace or extend, and the malleable iron or steel construction withstands heavy use.

  • Low Profile: The slender pipe backbone keeps obstruction to a minimum, allowing multiple clamps to be closely spaced on wide panels.

Common Uses:

  • Panel Glue-Ups: Edge-joining boards to form wide panels for doors, tabletops and panels.

  • Cabinet & Carcase Assembly: Clamping carcass sides, tops and bottoms squarely when gluing or screwing.

  • Frame Construction: Holding picture-frame or mirror-frame corners tight and square during adhesive cure.

  • Large Assemblies: Any glue-up or assembly that exceeds the capacity of standard bar or sash clampsβ€”simply add a longer pipe.

  • Repair & Retrofit: Easily expand your clamping arsenal by purchasing additional pipes rather than whole new clamps.
