Collection: Spring Clamps

Spring clamps—sometimes called pinch clamps—are simple, spring-loaded hand tools that grip workpieces by means of a strong coil spring. Their quick-action design makes them ideal for light-duty holding and positioning tasks.

Key Characteristics:

  • Spring-Loaded Jaw: A tempered steel spring provides constant clamping force as soon as the jaws are squeezed and released.

  • One-Handed Operation: Squeeze the handles together to open the jaws, then release to clamp—no adjustments or screws needed.

  • Compact & Lightweight: Typically under 100 mm jaw width (though larger sizes exist), making them easy to manoeuvre and store.

  • Protective Pads: Jaws often feature plastic, rubber or nylon pads to prevent marring or slipping on delicate surfaces.

  • Varied Materials: Bodies are usually made from spring steel or fibre-reinforced plastic for strength and corrosion resistance.

  • Limited Throat Depth: Because the jaws are close to the pivot, reach into deep assemblies is minimal compared to bar or sash clamps.

Common Uses:

  • Gluing Small Parts: Holding mitred picture-frame corners or model components while adhesive sets.

  • Temporary Holding: Securing templates, jigs or workpieces for drilling, routing or sanding.

  • Photography & Lighting: Clamping backdrops or reflectors to stands and booms.

  • Cable Management: Bundling hoses, cables or extension leads on-site.

  • Crafts & Hobby Work: Clamping fabrics, leather or small assemblies in DIY projects.
