This traditional formula enhances the natural beauty of wood, leaving a high-gloss finish when applied correctly. Additionally, it can be used to seal wood before waxing, ensuring optimal preparation for subsequent treatments. Rustins French Polish dries rapidly as the alcohol evaporates, forming a smooth shellac film on the timber surface.

Specifications:

Preparation: Clean and smooth wood; fill open grain with Rustins Grain Filler. Clean old furniture with white spirit and fine wire wool
Application: Use a rubber for French polishing or a brush/rag for sealing wood before waxing
Coats: Multiple coats for French polishing; 2 liberal coats for sealing before waxing
Drying Time: Leave 24 hours after the last coat to harden
Re-coating Time: 4–6 hours
Application Temperature: 15–25°C (59–77°F) in a warm, dry atmosphere
Coverage: 13–15 m² per litre (140–161 ft² per litre)
Maintenance: Wipe with a damp cloth; clean greasy surfaces with mild, non-abrasive detergent
Compatibility: Compatible with Rustins Wood Dye for colouring before sealing
Settlement: Shake thoroughly before use
Shelf-life/Storage: Indefinite shelf life in an airtight container. Store in a cool place and ensure the lid is tightly closed
Hazards: Highly flammable; avoid skin and eye contact. Use in a well-ventilated area. Seek medical advice if unwell
Clean-Up: Clean equipment while wet using Rustins Methylated Spirits
