Rustins Metal Lacquer is a premium, clear lacquer designed to protect and preserve the appearance of metals such as brass, copper, silver, and bronze. Formulated with a polymethacrylic ester base, it prevents oxidation and tarnishing while providing a non-yellowing, craze-free finish. This UV-resistant lacquer adheres exceptionally well to a variety of metals, making it perfect for use on ornaments, trophies, and other decorative items. For best results, apply quickly and evenly with a soft brush or spray in dry, warm conditions. Ideal for both interior and exterior use, Rustins Metal Lacquer eliminates the need for frequent cleaning while maintaining the original beauty of your metal surfaces.
Type: Low solid lacquer based on a polymethacrylic ester
Intended Use: Prevents tarnishing and oxidation on brass, copper, bronze, and silver
Special Features: Non-yellowing, craze-resistant, and UV-protected finish
Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean and free of wax, grease, and polish; use warm soapy water to remove residues
Application: Apply quickly and evenly with a soft brush or spray; thin with Rustins Cellulose Thinners if required
Coats: One coat sufficient for interior use; two to three coats recommended for exterior applications
Drying Time: 2-3 hours depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: 2-3 hours depending on temperature and humidity
Application Temperature: Ideally 15-25°C (59-77°F); do not apply below 10°C (50°F) or in high humidity
Coverage: 15 m² per litre (161 ft² per litre)
Maintenance: Reapply as required on a clean surface
Compatibility: Remove old coatings using Rustins Strypit Paint & Varnish Stripper to prevent incompatibility
Shelf-life/Storage: Long shelf life in a sealed container stored in a cool, dry place
