Rustins Quick Dry MDF Sealer is a versatile water-based acrylic emulsion that dries to a clear, smooth finish. This product is designed to seal all grades of MDF, including interior, exterior, flooring, and moisture-resistant types. Unlike traditional white MDF sealers, it allows for overcoating with both paints and varnishes. With quick drying times—touch dry in 30 minutes and ready for re-coating in 2 hours—Rustins MDF Sealer provides excellent sealing properties. It is easy to apply with a synthetic fibre brush, pad, or sponge, and the sealed surface sands easily for a smooth, professional finish. This sealer is suitable for use on bare MDF and wood, both indoors and outdoors, and is compliant with Safety of Toys Regulations (BS EN 71 Part 3 1995).

Intended Use: For sealing all grades of MDF, both interior and exterior, as well as bare wood
Special Features: Quick-drying, low odour, excellent sealing properties, and easy brush clean-up with water. Conforms to Safety of Toys Regulations (BS EN 71 Part 3 1995)
Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. If desired, the colour of bare MDF can be changed with Rustins Wood Dye before sealing.
Application: Stir well before use. Apply liberally and evenly using a synthetic fibre brush, pad, or sponge. One coat is usually sufficient, but edges or routed areas may require a second coat.
Drying Time: Touch dry within 30 minutes depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: Allow 2 hours before painting or varnishing
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25°C; avoid use below 10°C or in high humidity
Coverage: Approx. 12 sq.m per litre for one coat, depending on surface absorbency
Compatibility: Can be overcoated with a wide range of paints, undercoats, and varnishes, including Rustins Quick Dry Varnish, Polyurethane Varnishes, and Floor Finishes
Clean-Up: Clean brushes with water immediately after use; hard brushes can be cleaned with Rustins Brush Restorer
Shelf-life/Storage: Long shelf life if stored in a tightly closed container in normal conditions; protect from frost and store above 5°C
Hazards: Non-flammable; avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact, rinse with water and seek medical advice if necessary. Keep out of reach of children. A full Safety Data Sheet is available upon request
