The Axminster Professional AP406DS Drum Sander is a simple yet highly effective finishing machine, ideal for both board sanding and square frame sanding. Constructed mainly from aluminium alloy castings with a steel base frame, this sander delivers long-lasting robustness while maintaining a compact footprint. The machine is supported by a sturdy, splayed leg steel floor stand for stability during use.

Thanks to its open-sided design, the AP406DS allows sanding of boards up to 812mm wide by passing material through both sides, while single pass sanding is possible up to 406mm. A hand control wheel with an easy-to-read indicator scale makes adjusting sanding thickness between 3mm and 127mm straightforward. The 0.75kW motor powers the drum, while a variable speed conveyor ensures flexibility to achieve the desired finish on different materials.

The rubber conveyor belt safeguards workpieces from marking, ensuring a smooth, professional finish. Additionally, the conveyor belt is simple to track, with supplied shims allowing precise alignment with the sanding drum. Changing abrasive rolls is quick and tool-free, secured by simple clips. The machine is supplied with an 80 grit abrasive roll to get started immediately.

Please note that drum sanders are designed for finishing and are not intended as replacements for planers or thicknessers. They should be used with pre-planed and dimensioned timber for optimal results.
