The Makita DWT310ZK is a cordless shear wrench (also known as a TC shear wrench or tension control bolt wrench).

Purpose of this tool:

Its main purpose is to tighten high-strength tension control (TC) bolts — also called torque shear bolts or twist-off bolts.

These special bolts have a splined end (twist-off tip). The shear wrench grips both the nut and the spline at the same time. When the bolt reaches the exact designed tension (clamping force), the spline shears off cleanly. This gives precise, verifiable tension without needing torque calibration or guesswork.
